I realize I could do a 'set selection' on the object and drop in an Octane portal material there, but the results are blocky and not organic. I've been trying to use the opacity channel to do this. Overall I really like using Octane Materials but I'm interested in making some of the edges of the objects rough or irregular without distorting the object's geometry.

Allow their True 3d painting mode to cross uv seams like Mudbox. Some of the nice masking options that Mari has during projection painting. Give better and more automatic support for Multi tile uv setup like Mari.Ĥ. Give symmetry options in all their toolsģ. Allow full exchange between Photoshop and Bodypaint. They need to hunker down and play off their strong suits. The only thing on the market right now that is in a similar position is 3D-Coat.

They have a strong base for building a complete asset creation software. Mari and Mudbox choked on files 1/2 as heavy on much stronger computers.ĥ.

Sometimes you need high resolution textures at 16 bit or float and Bodypaint handles them on such meagre old machines it is impressive. Mari's projection only approach is a turn off.Ĥ. Something about the way the brush tools respond.

We love how well we can exchange files and brushes with Photoshop.Ģ. Bodypaint has a some things going for it.
